Latvijas gaze resumes Russian gas purchases, pays in euros
MOSCOW, Jul 29 (PRIME) -- Latvijas gaze has restarted purchases of Russian gas, choosing a supplier different from Gazprom, and pays in euros, CEO Aigars Kalvitis told a local TV channel on Friday.
"Latvijas gaze is buying gas (from Russia), but we don't buy it from Gazprom because we cannot pay Gazprom. We have a different supplier… (Who it is) is a commercial secret that we do not discuss publicly," Kalvitis said, adding that the company pays in euros.
In July, the Latvian parliament passed amendments to the energy law to prohibit gas supplies from Russia.
